The Basic Views
Pennant is split into 4 distinct views, each with its own 3 sub-views. The sub-views can be selected using the bottom menu icons, and the views can be navigated using the top right button or by selecting card icons.
Select a Team
The Select a Team view allows the user to find the team they are looking for and view its history. Each sub-view allows the user to choose the team that they'd like to view.
  • The Homescreen View shows each team as a card within a horizontal assortment. Swiping left to right moves through the cards, and pressing the front card selects the team.
  • The Card All View shows every team, allowing the user to quickly jump to a certain team.
  • The Map View shows each team on a map showing the cities where each team exists or existed. Double tapping this view zooms in on the map and allows a team to be selected.
Select a Season
The Select a Season view shows the overall performance of a team throughout it's existence. The bottom graph represents the winning percentage for each year as a percentage between .250 and .750, showing the rise and fall of a team's success over the decades. Swiping along the graph or pressing any of the timeline items moves the current view to that year.
  • The Season Card View continues the interaction shown in the Homescreen view, this time with each card representing a season.
  • The Radar View compares the team's performance in various statistical categories to that of the rest of the league. The inner circle represents the worst team and the outer circle the best.
  • The Statistics View shows the same information as the radar view, but in individual categories using a more traditional horizontal bar visualiztion.
Select a Game
The Select a Game view shows results of each game within a season and the teams standings on any given day. The bottom graph is similar in functionality to the Season View graph, with the individual bars representing each game. The bars are show at either half or full height, representing a win or loss.
  • The Game Card View represents each game as a card, showing the opponent and the final score of the game.
  • The Bubble View represents the team's league ranking (and division ranking where available) on any given day during the season. The larger the size of the bubble, the better the ranking. This ranking can be compared to the rankings of every other opponent by comparing the sizes of the bubbles. Each bubble can also be moved and placed next to any other bubble, allowing for a unique direct comparison.
  • The Rankings View, similar to the Select a Season Statistics View, shows a simpler representation of the team's rankings.
View Game
Finally, the Game View shows each game in depth down to the at-bat level.
  • The Game Overview shows each event of a game in a circular visualization. Selecting an event shows the textual description of the event and the resulting score at that time.
  • The Player View shows the rosters for both teams as well as the Game Overview visualization. Selecting any hitter will show where they batted in the game (and how their performance). Selecting any pitcher will show who batted against them.
  • The Game Replay allows the game to be played back in a time based format. Scrolling through the timeline or the event wheel allows for scrubbing through the game, and the Play/Pause button controls the automatic playback.
